Subject: Important Changes Coming to Student Google Accounts & Chromebooks
Dear Teachers,
The District currently uses two Google systems: one for staff and one for students. When Google was first adopted in the 2006-2007 school year, this was the only option. Google now requires all schools to move to a single system for both staff and students.
To meet these new Google licensing requirements and strengthen collaboration, all student accounts will transition to the staff Google Workspace system by July 2026.
Beginning in early 2025, Google released new tools and features that function only when all users are within the same system. This transition is necessary to maintain access to current and future Google products and to manage licensing costs effectively. It will also provide a more seamless experience for sharing with students, improve collaboration between students and teachers, and ensure consistency across the District.
We understand that this work will affect summer programs, but it must be completed before the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

“AI can make what we do better, no doubt about it. But now, more than ever, these kids need us, they need human guidance, human mentoring, real conversations, and the chance to work and connect with other people. That’s where the real growth happens.” ~ Raymond Berrott
