How to enable the touch keyboard on your Surface

Upon your initial login to a Surface computer, the touch keyboard may not appear.  This is due to the fact that a key pad is connected and the computer thinks you have a physical keyboard being used.  To turn the touch keyboard on, please follow the steps below.

 

Tap the Windows button, then tap the Settings gear.

Tap Time & Settings, then tap Typing.

Tap Touch keyboard, then select Always in the Show the touch keyboard dropdown.
