In a continuing effort to provide a safe educational environment for our students, Focus has provided a way of identifying students who have a safety and/or security issue as the result of a Protection from Abuse (PFA) order.
1. Perform a Student Search for the individual who is named within an active PFA.
2. Navigate to the student's Document Management tab.
3. Create a record in the Student Protection from Abuse logging field section.
There are four fields:
- School Year. This field is automatically populated and is included for informational purposes only.
-
PFA Start Date. The date of when the PFA starts. This can be a date in the past or future.
-
PFA Expiration Date. The date of when the PFA ends.
-
PFA Documentation. The logging record must be added and saved before the documentation can be uploaded. This is not required for the Student PFA Status to be updated.
- There is programming code within Focus that reviews the Student Protection from Abuse logging field content. If the current date falls within the PFA Start Date and PFA Expiration Date dates, it will check the Student PFA Status field. The code will uncheck the Student PFA Status field for the student if all the records in the Student Protection from Abuse logging field have passed their expiration date(s).
In the example below, the student is named within an active PFA. The start and end dates are inclusive of the Student PFA Status.
4. Once the Student PFA Status has been activated, the Student Alert icon (shown below in red) will be displayed on the student's name placard as well as in the results of any student search. Users with the proper profile permissions can hover over the icon to view details or click on it to be taken to the Document Management page for the student. When the PFA expires, the icon will disappear.
