This article provides instruction on submitting Canvas assignments via third-party Apps.  Many different third-party Apps can be used to submit assignments to Canvas, but for this knowledge base article, we are using Notability.  The screens in other Apps might look different, but the general workflow should be the same.  If you are experiencing difficulties in submitting your assignment via a third-party App, please see our other knowledge base article "Canvas assignment submission via a file upload"

 

1. Tap the "Share" button from your App

 

 

2. Under the "Send To" section tap "Other Apps"

 

3. For Notability, confirm that the File Format is PDF, then tap "Share Note"

 

 

4. Tap the "Submit Assignment" icon

 

 

 

5. Enter any comments you feel are necessary, then tap "Course" and select the correct course, then tap "Assignment" and select the correct assignment.  Once you have the correct Course and Assignment selected, tap the "Submit" button to submit the assignment.

 

 

6. If you have Canvas notifications on, once you submit the assignment, you will see a notification appear on your iPad.  

 

 

 

 

7. You can verify that the submission was successful by visiting the Canvas App, finding the Assignment page and seeing "Successfully submitted!" in the Assignment Details section.
