How to resolve issues with iPad app installation

On some iPads, certain applications that the District has selected to pre-install may not have fully installed. These applications will appear to be “grayed out” on the home screen, or, you will see an error message indicating that the app is not able to be installed.

In the picture above, the apps Kids A-Z and Google Slides are “grayed out” and must be deleted in order to be re-installed.  Apps that are in “Waiting” or “Loading” are still in the process of installing.

If you encounter this issue, follow the steps below:

  1. Touch and hold any app on the Home screen, then tap Edit Home Screen.
All apps then begin to jiggle.

  2. Tap the Close button on the app you want to remove, then tap Delete.

  3. When you’re done, swipe up from the bottom edge or press the Home button.

The app will automatically reinstall when the iPad checks in with the District’s management server (usually within 24 hours).
